Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors advise patients who are really sick and whose condition is serious, to be admitted in the ICU. Sometimes a patient looking fine has a possibility of their condition getting worse. They are admitted in ICU for monitoring and investigations. The ICU is equipped with state-of-the-art life-saving equipment and trained doctors and paramedical staff to save the lives of patients in emergency situations.

This notion is totally wrong. Ventilator is an important invention in the field of medical science. ICU cannot be imagined without ventilator. Patients who have breathing problems and are unable to maintain the level of oxygen, needs ventilator the most. It is a lifesaving device and is needed. During COVID-19 we all have seen that due to lack of oxygen or not maintaining oxygen, patients needed oxygen support via other devices such as BiPAP, NIV, ventilation or else the patient’s condition was worsened or they died. Sometimes, if ventilation is not provided in time, chances of saving lives are reduced.

ICU is an infection free area. It requires efforts not only from the medical staff but also from the relatives of the patient to keep its environment free from infection. This is the reason that the time to meet patients in the ICU is fixed. This rule prevents the patients from getting additional infection and provides proper rest and sleep. The medical team also does not face any problem in treating the patients. For the safety of patients and maintaining an infection-free environment, it is important that people enter the ICU wearing masks, caps and sterile gowns.
